Case Study:  Financial Protection for the family

Mr and Mrs Stone had three children, a reasonable income and everything to look forward to. Unfortunately, Mr Stone was involved in a serious car accident on his way home one evening and never regained consciousness. He had had the foresight to establish a mortgage protection life assurance policy on his life and his employer paid his widow a death in service lump sum of £100,000. This took away immediate financial pressures but left our client with little choice but to return to work as a school teacher. Much to our client’s surprise the death in service benefit policy proceeds could only be relied on to produce an income of £4,000 per annum.

Mrs Stone quickly adjusted to her new life and expressed concern to Morley and Scott that she had made no financial provision for her children if anything were to happen to her. After discussion with one of Morley and Scott’s Financial Planning Managers it was agreed that a policy should be established to pay an annual income free of tax of £15,000 per annum over the next twenty years if she were to die prematurely. In twenty years time she quite reasonably feels that her children should be financially self sufficient. The cost of the policy amounted to some £18.00 per month which was easily affordable and gave our client complete peace of mind.
