R&D Tax Relief
Are you claiming your entitlement?
If your business is carrying out Research and Development (R&D) you could reduce your tax bill by claiming relief for your R&D expenditure.
You can make a R&D claim under either the Small and Medium Enterprises (SME) scheme (175% relief) or the Large Company Scheme (130% relief).
If your company employs engineers, scientists or other technical specialists who are involved in solving and developing scientific and technological problems then you may be eligible to claim the tax benefits.
If your company is continually investing in R&D, then claiming tax relief is a vital strategy that may result in a refund or reduction of corporation tax. Alternatively, if your company is only embarking on a one off R&D project then a claim could improve your cash position.
Many companies lose out because they do not realise that they are eligible to claim R&D tax relief, while others believe the claim process is too costly and time consuming. All too often the R&D claim is neglected and thrown in with the broader tax and accounting affairs.
